PPC Audit Case Study — Residential Construction & Design

During our 13-month engagement, periscopeUP helped a large residential construction & design company generate more new custom home leads and sales through paid search with less advertising spend. As the home buying process continues to evolve, the online marketplace for this space has grown in importance as a way to reach a local audience. However, the sales cycle is longer with a high-investment purchase such as a custom home, so it was critical to determine which keywords attract buyers who were further down in the sales funnel.

We began the campaign with an audit of the client’s existing PPC campaign. The audit revealed a key demographic was inadvertently excluded from the campaign and keyword bids were unnecessarily high. By implementing a new PPC strategy based on the findings of the audit, cost per lead was immediately reduced from $611 to an average of $111 over the course of the 13-month campaign. As an added bonus, we reduced the CPC from $4.50 to approximately $1.50 and generated more qualified traffic at a lower cost.

The positive results shown in the graph to the right illustrate how a PPC audit can be instrumental in reducing paid search advertising spend. Optimizing a PPC campaign with a competitive bidding strategy for advantageous keywords will result in more leads for a reduced budget. Read more about periscopeUP’s efforts on this project here.

How Does A PPC Audit Work?

Step 1) You Tell Us About Your Ad Strategy

First we interview you about your overall advertising strategies and goals. We make sure we first have a clear understanding of what you want to accomplish.

Step 2) We Examine Your PPC Campaign

Digging deep into the data, we find out how your keyword selection, match types, ad display, and landing pages are set up. Then we locate areas where you can get better results and more bang for your buck. For example, we ask:

  • Do your ads lead to landing pages that are contextually relevant?
  • What are your best keyword match types (broad, phrase, exact, or negative match)?
  • Are you using the best terms that focus on conversion?
  • Are clicks producing sales?
  • Is it worth the cost you pay per click?
  • Would you be better off paying per impression or per click?

Step 3) You Get A Report

When our PPC audit is finished, you get a full report of our findings. From here, you can take this data to your team – or we can help you implement the best practices to increase your advertising/PPC campaign performance.

Step 4) We Fix It For You

After your approval only, we begin working to improve your ad results. For every audit item that requires attention, we implement the most effective adjustments to generate more conversions and sales.
